I talked with Amy's Mom this a.m. and she Amy's was feeling better and her spirits were much better. Amy seemed to be doing better.
I did call Amy tonight and she did seem to be doing
a lot better and we talked for over an hour. Amy said, her kidney was still functioning good and all "seemed" to be going good. She is extremely sore. But, of course, when you are cut like Amy has
been, she has a reason to be sore. Also, with Amy being off her feet for 8-12 weeks earlier because of her toe then she her legs are already weak and this makes getting up and down difficult not to meant being cut
from the surgery and also not eating anything. Amy had her first surgery on Wed., June 21st and have not eaten anything solid since then. It has been pretty much juices and that is getting old. Amy did
talk them into getting her some broth. Also, Amy had to have a little "liquid gold", as she calls it. Amy did ask the doctor about getting her about a can of Diet Mt. Dew, if she promised to only drink about
¼ of it and he agreed as long as would not the whole can. So, Amy got some "liquid gold". Amy said on her third surgery when they discovered that her pancreas had stopped working that they removed it and in
the process they had to remove part of her bowel because when they had placed the transplant pancreas in they had to stitch it to her bowels and therefore when they removed it they had to take a section of the bowels
out. Amy has been through so much, but her spirits remain high and she is very thankful that thus far her kidney is working. She will have to continue to use her insulin pump, but if all continues to go well
with her new kidney she will not have to go to dialysis. Amy would like to thank each and every one of you for ALL of your thoughts and prayers.
I would like to say a special thanks for those
that have been patient with me, as I have tried to work at my job, take care of my family responsibilities, answer emails, adopt puppies, take care of the medical needs of the dogs and puppies, etc. Thanks
for understanding and also for your concerns for Amy and her family. Please continue to remember each of them in your thoughts and prayers. It has been very hard on her Mom trying to do all that she has to
do (she has been a real trooper in keeping things going as she has, even when she was sick). I don't see how she does it.
We are all so thankful that someone was willing to give a part of
them self, so that Amy can hopefully have a better life. No one will ever know how much Amy, her family and the H.A.R.T. Foundation family (me, especially) appreciate it.
Hopefully, Amy
will be home soon and anyone that would like to send a card or get well wishes can mail it to:
H.A.R.T. Foundation, c/o Amy Hobbs, 2540 Becky Hill Road, Lexington, North Carolina 27295
Amy did say thanks to all those have sent cards to her during her time in the hospital with her toe surgery. You will never no what it meant to her. She received cards and well wishes from
people in other states and you were such a blessing to her. Thanks so very much.
Keep checking back for more news. Hopefully, I can report "ALL" good news.
